A day in my life as a Tai Tai

It was the only weekday that i woke up with much anticipation, instead of heading towards the office in the north west line - i head towards the opposite direction to town.

YES !!!! today is my off day from work - i have the luxury to experience a day in my life as a Tai Tai - I have signed up to attend a culinary class at the Raffles Culinary Academy with my cooking buddy - Cass :)

Sounds so high class right. I even got a certificate for attending the class (SMILE). M sure my folks will be so proud of me

Anyway, i have learnt three "easy home cooking" dishes during the session - Linguine Pasta roller with seafood mix baby salad, xeres dressing, oven baked chilean seabass with cereal crusted, broccoli puree and pan seared beef & mushroom skewer crispy potatoe chip with passion fruit emulsion. To me, they are simply too high class to be easy home cooking. I would say....FINE DINNING man !!!

Besides learning how to cook such fine dinning dishes, i also have learn a lot of new terms - like sautee, etc, etc..and start to learn how to cook using a pair of TONGS. yes, no joke. :)

My first attempt will definitely be the oven baked seabass. Two words to describe - Tasty and Healty. I am sure i will remember the taste of seabass by heart. Cass wanted to try the seafood pasta. It will definitely be fun when we get together to exchange tips again :) I promise to treat my folks for my first attempt. This really get me exciting. Can't wait to start my cooking expedition

Well, it is indeed a blessing to be able to hv e luxury to attend such fine dinning cooking class, esp with my cooking buddy - I really thanks GOD for that :) And not forgetting the great company i have today with my cooking buddy - Cass. It really makes a whole lot of difference. :)

Tips from Episode 5 - m sure it will taste better with Almond Flakes :)

What is your choice ??

One of my friends sent me this very interesting email. And i take a poll of the choice that some of my closest friends will pick. It is quite interesting to know them more thro' such emails. Hope you will have fun too. Here it goes

If all of the desserts listed below were sitting in front of you, which would you choose? Pick your dessert, then look to see what Psychiatrists think about you!

a. Carrot Cake
b. Brownies
c. Angel Food Cake
d. Vanilla Cake with Chocolate Icing
e. Chocolate on Chocolate
f. Lemon Meringue
g. Strawberry shortcake
h. Ice cream

OK - Now that you've made your choice, let see what research says about you!

ANGEL FOOD CAKE ... Sweet, loving, cuddly. You love all warm and fuzzy items. A little nutty at times. Sometimes you need an ice cream cone at the end of the day. Others perceive you as being childlike and immature at times.

BROWNIES... You are adventurous, love new ideas, are a champion of under dogs and a slayer of dragons. When tempers flare up, you whip out your sabre. You are always the oddball with a unique sense of humor and direction. You tend to be very loyal.

LEMON MERINGUE... Smooth, sexy, & articulate with your hands, you are an excellent after-dinner speaker and a good teacher. But don't try to walk and chew gum at the same time. A bit of a diva at times, but you have many friends.

VANILLA CAKE WITH CHOCOLATE ICING... Fun-loving, sassy, humorous. Not very grounded in life; very indecisive and lack motivation. Everyone enjoys being around you, but you are a practical joker. Others should be cautious in making you mad. However, you are a friend for life.

STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE... Romantic, warm, loving. You care about other people and can be counted on in a pinch. You tend to melt. You can be overly emotional and annoying at times.

CHOCOLATE ON CHOCOLATE... Sexy; always ready to give and receive. Very creative, adventurous, ambitious, and passionate. You can appear to have a cold exterior but are warm on the inside. Not afraid to take chances. Will not settle for anything average in life. Love to laugh.

ICE CREAM... You like sports, whether it be baseball, football, basketball, or soccer. If you could, you would like to participate, but you enjoy watching sports. You don't like to give up the remote control. You tend to be self-centered and high maintenance.

CARROT CAKE... You are a very fun loving person, who likes to laugh. You are fun to be with. People like to hang out with you. You are a very warm hearted person and a little quirky at times. You have many loyal friends.

Ok, let see what my closest friends pick and how true i think it is for them

1. Justina, Jennifer & Tracy : Three of them pick Chocolate on Chocolate
Quite true for some of the qualities listed. Esp see the "creative" traits prominently in three of them. And three of them are indeed Sexy in their own ways. I cannot agree more :)

2. My best friend - KL : What more can i say, She pick my choice too - Strawberry short cake. Indeed my best friend, too bad there is no blue berry cake, m sure she will pick that as her first choice. Hmm... Romantic, Loving - the description fit us to a T. Forgot e part about annoying people - who doesnt annoyed people occassionally right. hahaha

3. My Gal Gang - Louise : Carrot Cake. That is a unique dessert that i didn't expect her to choose. The description is very apt for her. I always enjoying being with Louise. She may look quiet, but she can be a fun loving person. And also someone i always love dearly :)

4. My cooking cum baking buddy - Cass : Ice Cream. Hmm, i thought she would pick all because not only she loves to cook, she loves to eat as well. Oh ya, Cass is definitely not self centred and high maintenance. On the contrary, the Cass i know is full of grace, laughter and encouraging. If i can find one dessert to describe her, i would say Strawberry Short Cake - full of fun, sweetness and love :)

Mel_@_Wok Episode 4 - Egg Mayo Sandwich

I have learnt that simple ingredient like eggs can make sumptuous and tasty dinner too. I always love Mayonnaise..esp Japanese Mayonnaise. With some creativity, i have modify my egg mayo sandwich. Please see end result here : -

And the verdict is : Oishii !!!!

Tips from Episode 4 - The bread and Cheese taste so much better after toasting. The Cheese add more flavour to otherwise bland taste of eggs
