Mel_@_Wok Episode 11 DIY Carbonara

Usually, cooking pasta is a piece of cake - just have to buy the ready to cook sauce off the shelf. You name it, you have it. But this time, i have decided to make the sauce myself. I choose my favourite pasta - carbonara. And i never imagine that it could taste as good as those from pastamania. I m so proud of myself, just have to be more confidence with my cooking and practice, practice and practice.

Tip from Episode 11:
1. i forgot to add some eggs
2. Need to add more milk & cream to form the sauce base

A day in my life as a Tai Tai - Part Three

Finally, with God's Provision, the three of us - the baking buddies (Tracy, Cass & Myself) have finally get together in a great cooking cum baking expedition today.

Alto, the entire marathon cooking session was tiring, it is definitely a good way of fellowship and exchange of each other cooking tips and experience.

I started with baking of my favorite cake - strawberry short cake. But it was a flop. It became a strawberry toast in disguise. Not sure what went wrong, but definitely will try again. Who say that baking is a piece of cake. It was never....hahaha

Next Cass shared on her shepherd's pie. I m going to do my friend's proud when they came to my house next time for dinner. Another dish out to impress, Thanks Cass.

Now my turn to demo on my all time favorite and "idiot-proof" tiramisu so that Tracy can make a true blue Italian Dessert for her beloved Eric :)

Finally, it is time to start cooking for dinner. Cass cooked two dishes - Stir Fried Vege and KW's favorite Lotus Roots Spare Rib Soup. And Tracy, too, cooked her signature Stewed Chicken with Mushroom. Oh yes, and not forgetting the extra ingredients that was left over from each dish. Cass and Tracy improvise onto another dish - Omelete Combo

It was a sumptuous, delicious & healthy home cooked dinner and not forgotting the very yummy Ice Cream that Cass has made for us. From this incident, i have learnt an important lesson - when there is a will, there is a way :) Thanks God's too for making this Tai Tai session came true
Looking forward to our next baking cum cooking sesson again.

Tips from Cass :
1. Add salt to the soup only at the end of the cooking
2. Add salt to the garlic before stir frying the vege, it should taste better that way

Tips from Tracy:
1. To marinate the chicken wings before hand
2. To deep fried the chicken wings till golden brown before start to stew the chicken

Another Candle for me on this day

I always count my blessings each day, esp on this day. How God is wonderful and merciful to bless me with good health to enjoy the many happy moments in life and on this special day.

I almost forgotten about my own birthday cos' i was too engrossed with the World Cup fanfare and also with my impending Driving Test. All i remember was 10 July and 14 July. hahahaha.

Early in the morn, my phone was flooded with many birthday smses today. With the many heartfelt blessings and wishes from some of my very close friends and some of which are friends that i never keep in touch for a long long time. One of which are across the border & country - my greatest brother in christ in Penang & sista-in-christ in shanghai. Some of them are from strangers that i never know (yup, the marketing gimmick of shopping malls). And a pleasant surprise was from my German Boss & my counterparts from sin/penang. They give me such a great birthday surprise by singing birthday songs n brought me a birthday cake. And also, thanks my baking buddy - Tracy and Cass for the wonderful gifts they have showered me. (see photo was a home made shepherd pie from cass's kitchen - it is my favorite food) And also, my faithful lunch mates, Jenn, jus & lorr whom celebrate my birthday today over lunch at liquid's cafe

M really touched with the many many gestures that i have been blessed today. It is definitely from my wonderful GOD. My dearest Father in Heaven, with gratitude for such wonderful gifts from you

Mel_@_Wok Episode 9 - World Cup Menu part ONE

This is the season flooding with Fubball cheering and jittering. It is also a season and a reason for partying. No matter which team you are supporting, what matter most is to have some fun together, whether with your colleauges whom u never had so much to talk with, or with your long time soccer buddies, afterall, it is once in every four years.

I am a soccer fanatic. M not good in the game itself, but like the spirit of fun and cheering, esp with a large crowd. For this year world cup, we are going to do it differently. I am inviting a few of my regular soccer buddies to my place on the final as it will start only around 2am. Hence, in preparation of the BIG party, i have test tried a few dishes as this is the FIRST time ever i am cooking up some food for my friends. M certainly looking forward to this.

Hopefully....everything will turn up well...looks up for the verdict ...as part two of my updates kicks off on the 10 July.... :)

Tips from Episode 9:
1. should marinate the chicken wings longer in the fridge
2. should use Bacon instead of Ham per my good friend's - patrick advise :)
